Mercury Glass Master Salts
Mercury
glass is the common term for silvered glass, which describes
glass that was blown double walled, then silvered between
the layers with a liquid silvering solution, and then
sealed. Silvered glass was free-blown, then silvered with
a solution containing silver nitrate and grape sugar in
solution (Mercury was never used to create tableware).
These salts are in superb condition, with no discoloration.
They are about 3" tall by 3 3/8" wide, and are
sealed with a glass round. Probably English around the
mid 1800's.
Offered
at $125.
